The five debates in Cicero’s Tusculanae Disputationes was a series of philosophical education, which begins with the death education and is aimed at the virtue sufficient for a happy life. The recipients of this paideia are contemporary and future Roman politicians represented by a young interlocutor in each book.Cicero’s paideia through refutative philosophical debates in response to the constitutional upheavals in Rome is implied in the title of Tusculanae Disputationes per se.
