At the beginning of the Cold War, the US government shifted its strategic focus to Asia and Western Europe and sharply cut economic aid to Latin America, which caused great dissatisfaction of Brazil. The outbreak of the Korean War in 1950 forced the United States to re-examine its relationship with Brazil and to get the Brazilian government by all means to send troops to the Korean Peninsula. However, after a long negotiation, Brazil finally refused to send troops to North Korea and went against the will of the United States. The failure of the negotiation indicates the disintegration of the "alliance" between the United States and Brazil. According to the development and changes of the relationship, the eight-year period from the WWII to the end of the Korean War was undoubtedly a turning point in the history of US-Brazil relationship which had a profound impact on the later relationship between the two countries.
