He Ruzhang,the first minister stationed in Japan,was a talented person who grew up in the late Qing Dynasty.He has firm faith and holds fast to his creed that is pragmatic and new.These characteristics are intertwined to determine his personal growth,his life experience and his understanding of the international situation and his diplomatic practice.In the Sino-Japanese Ryukyu negotiations,he analyzed the situation between China and Japan and proposed a positive response strategy.In order to prevent Korea from being occupied by foreign countries and maintain China’s status as a sovereign state,He Ruzhang advocated opening up Korea and making covenants with other countries so as to restrain each other and maintain the interests of China and Korea.His insight is realistic,far-sighted,predictive,long-term and holistic.During the period of his envoy,He Ruzhang sang poems with Japanese officials and civilians,and their friendship was profound.He Ruzhang is a diplomat and politician with Chinese traditional wisdom,world vision,noble character and sterling integrity.
