从宇文所安《杜甫诗》英译本看中国古典诗歌的翻译度

Evaluating the Translatability of Chinese Classical Poetry from The Poetry of Du Fu Translated by Stephen Owen

美国著名汉学家宇文所安(Stephen Owen)翻译的英文版《杜甫诗》全集,被视为中国古典诗歌译介领域的里程碑。本文认为其贡献主要有三:第一,确立了中国古典诗歌全集译介的体例范式;第二,将杜诗全貌首次以学术性的、严谨的翻译方式呈现于英语世界;第三,探索采用叙事性策略来译介言志寓情的杜甫诗。本文首次指出并剖析了宇文氏译本的“三译”“三不译”原则及特色,认为这体现出中国古典诗歌的翻译度问题,有助于读者理解译本,有助于杜诗走向广阔的汉学世界。

The complete work of the English version of The Poetry of Du Fu translated by Stephen Owen is regarded as a milestone in translation of Chinese classical literature.This paper points out that the main contributions of the work include three aspects.It established the model of translation and introduction of complete works of Chinese classical poetry;the complete picture of the poems by Du Fu is presented to the English world for the first time in academic and rigorous translation;explores the use of narrative strategies to translate Du Fu’s poems.This paper analyzes the characteristics of the work,points out the principles of translation and holds the view that it reflects the problem of translation of Chinese classical poetry,which is conducive to the readers’understanding of the translation and the English version of The Poetry of Du Fu.
