抗战爆发,举国震荡,大片国土相继沦丧,国内掀起救亡图存的热潮。中国军民通过多种途径,投身于抗战救亡事业。镌写石刻标语成为其宣传抗战的重要手段之一,抗战石刻成了中华民族苦难和抗争的历史见证。抗战石刻主要分布于华北、华东、华中、华南、西北和西南地区,其内容主要有:表达爱国主义情怀、鼓舞军民斗志、团结国共抗日、记述抗战史实、缅怀抗战英烈和欢呼抗战胜利等。抗战石刻是重要的抗战史料,挖掘其显性和隐性价值有利于推动抗战史研究,激发国人的爱国热情。

After the break out of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the whole nation was shocked and larges areas of our lands were lost consecutively. During the mass campaign for national salvation, the patriots dedicated themselves into this cause in all ways and then engraving slogans on stones became one of the important measures of wartime publicity. As such, the stone inscriptions about the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression witness the misery and resistance of Chinese nation. These stone inscriptions are mainly distributed in North, East, Central, South, Northwest and Southwest China. The contents include expressing the patriotism, inspiring the people and army to fight, uniting the CPC and Kuomintang to fight against the Japanese Aggression, recording the history of the War, cherishing the memory of heroes and celebrating the victory of the War. The stone inscriptions are the important historical materials about the War, so the exploration on their obvious and potential value is conducive to the study on the history of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and arouse the patriotism of Chinese people.
