The Unescapable ARCS Trap: Analysis on the Tragic Experience of Ratan in Tagore’s The Postmaster

延用“阿课思模式”动机分析模型来比较泰戈尔短篇小说《邮政局长》中男女两位主人公的交往动机,发现他们的交往动机在“注意”“切身性”“自信”“满意”四个方面存在不对称性,指出这种极端的不对称性是导致他们交往失败的根源,也导致了女主人公在整个交往过程中的悲剧处境。

The ARCS Model is employed to analyze the motivations of the hero and heroine in their association and communication as depicted by Tagore in his short story The Postmaster.It has been noted that there exists an imbalance in their respective motivations in terms of interest,relevance,confidence and satisfaction.This imbalance not only constitutes the reason for the failure in their relationship but also accounts for the heroine’s tragic situation in their relationship.
