摘要 2019年,中国茶产量预计将超过270万吨,这一片小小的叶子承载着大大的希望。2019年,对于中国茶的发展来说,注定是不平凡的一年。临近年底,湖南农业大学获授刘仲华入选中国工程院院士,茶界第二位院士诞生;第74届联合国大会19日通过决议,将每年5 M21日定为“国际茶日”,让茶叶可持续生产和消费成为可能。 T he year 2019 was ext raordinar y. Toward the end of 2019, Liu Zhonghua, a professor at Hunan Ag r icultural Unive rsit y, b e came a me mb e r of Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is now the second ACE fellow specialized in tea science. The United Nat ions Ge ne ral Asse mbly(UNGA) on December 19 adopted a resolution to designate May 21 as the International Tea Day.The year 2019 also w itnessed new endeavors to break away from traditional ways of tea production and processing in China. In Special Coverage, we address a number of issues such as deep processing, matcha, tea-centered products, new tea beverage products and consumption, internet celebrities as sales promoters, and tea-related variety shows. The coverage aims to examine what happened in China’s tea industry in 2019. Hopefully, this scrutiny can help us carry on tradition and continue to come up with new innovations.
