摘要
“Of”is the most common preposition in English.Based on the examination of 492 nominal groups with“of”phrase as the postmodifier,this study explored the functions of“of”and concluded that“of”primarily functions as a minor verb instead of a structure marker.Furthermore,the study investigated what processes“of”mainly represents when functioning as a minor verb.
