马尔库塞认为,西方发达工业社会由于科学技术的异化,导致人们丧失批判性思维从而出现资本主义的极权社会。在西方资本主义国家,科学技术逐渐沦落为资产阶级进行冷血统治的工具进而使其失去在社会发展过程中应当具备的中性价值,这归结于资本主义社会的一切资本都是为资产阶级服务的发展逻辑,这造就了资本主义社会"金钱"味冲淡人情味的社会现象。克服科学技术异化最根本的是要实现从资本主义发展逻辑向以人民为中心发展逻辑的转变,进而找到人自由而全面发展的路径。
