This study used the negative news reports on college students collected from the Internet to investigate the influence of group identification and social evaluation on group-based emotions. The results showed that: different social evaluations only affect the group-based guilt intensity of individuals with low group identity, and, specifically, positive ability evaluation and negative moral evaluation can promote the group-based guilt of individuals with low group identity;and individuals with high group identity are easier to get enraged than those with low group identity. These suggested that group-based guilt of individuals with high group identity is not easily affected by social evaluation whereas group-based guilt experience is stronger when individuals with low group identity received negative moral evaluation and positive ability evaluation, and that group-based anger is only affected by the intensity of group identity.
