The Language Avant-garde Effect Translation in the Novel Brothers

本文主要研究余华的长篇小说《兄弟》英译本中先锋性效果的再现情况。文章分析《兄弟》英译本中先锋性文学效果的翻译情况,具体表现在译者对重复结构和新奇的比喻这两种语言现象的处理,发现译者有时忠实再现原文中的先锋性结构,有时做了增删;最后得出结论,认为译者的意图是通过先锋性效果的增加或者减少来突出故事的主题和增强译文的审美效果。

This paper mainly studies the representation of avant-garde effect in Yu Hua’s novel Brothers. This paper analyzes the translation of avant-garde effects in the English version of Brothers, which is embodied in the translator’s handling of the two linguistic phenomena of repetition structure and novel metaphor. It is found that sometimes the translator faithfully models the avant-garde structure in the original text, sometimes makes additions and deletions. Finally, it is concluded that the intention is to highlight the story through the increase or decrease of avant-garde effects and enhance the aesthetic effect of the translation.
