摘要
风景书写既是旅华英国人重返故乡的精神路径,也是他们与中国建立情感联系的中介。在华英国人在"美学化""理想化""幻想化"的英国表述中遥望故乡,在"大海"与"乡村"的情感张力中抵达他乡。英国人在风景书写中建立了"第三空间",以缓解身份焦虑,弥合身份裂隙。然而"第三空间"却是短暂、混杂和矛盾的,外侨最终不可避免地成为"游荡的灵魂",陷于"无法抵达他乡,回首故乡无路"的尴尬处境。
Landscape narration is not only the spiritual path for the Englishmen traveling in China to express their nostalgia towards their hometown, but also the contributing emotional factor to be connected with China. The English express the concern about their homeland in aesthetics, idealization and imagination, trying to understand the other home in the strain between the sea and the village. The visiting Englishmen establish a third space in the narration to ease their identity anxiety, and bridge the gap between the identities. However, the third space is temporary, mixed with contradictions. Foreign settlers are doomed to be wandering strangers, trapped in the course of reaching the other hometown and missing the path to the hometown.
