辜鸿铭《中庸》英译本的人际功能分析

An Interpersonal Function Analysis of Gu Hongming’s English Translation of Zhong yong

文章从人际功能理论出发,通过自建语料库,从语气系统、情态系统和评价系统3个维度阐述辜鸿铭《中庸》英译本实现的人际功能。研究显示:辜译本中语气结构与主语的选择对阐明《中庸》的实质至关重要,情态的显化与低量值化受意识形态的影响。译者和文本外的声音也被介入到翻译中表达评价,实现了文本内外两个层面的融合与互动。

Drawing on the interpersonal function,this paper is a corpus-based investigation of Gu Hongming’s English translation of The Doctrine of the Mean in term of its mood,modality and appraisal systems.The study shows that the mood structure and subject are crucial to expounding its essence,while the explicitation and low value of modality are the outcomes of ideology.Moreover,translator’s and other voices are engaged for appraisal so as to fulfill the integration and interaction between text and its outer dimension.
