Female Figures in the Film Rome: From the Perspective of Semiotics

摘要 随着墨西哥的现代化发展进程,墨西哥女性的社会地位有了显著的提高,但仍有局限和不完整。墨西哥阶层分化现象明显,女性仍然备受父权制的压抑和身份设定的刻板桎梏。电影文本中的女性形象,呈现了墨西哥女性最真实的生存状态与最典型的时代症候——为了自身的独立和权利不断地与父权制社会做抗争。本文以符号学为理论工具,通过对墨西哥影片《罗马》中克里奥、索菲亚和奶奶这三位具有代表性的女性形象的细致解读,展示出不同社会阶层女性的爱与信仰、独立与坚韧等复合性形象特质,以及对传统刻板印象的新变、对自我独立意识的觉醒和对父权制的抗争。 with the process of modernization in Mexico,the social status of Mexican women has been significantly improved,but there are still limitations and incompleteness.The phenomenon of stratification in Mexico is obvious,and women are still constrained by patriarchy and stereotyped shackles of identity setting.In the film text,the image of women presents the most real living state and the most typical symptoms of the times of Mexican women,who constantly struggle with patriarchal society for their own independence and rights.With semiotics as a theoretical tool,this paper,through a detailed interpretation of the three representative female images of Cleo,Sophia and grandma in the Mexican film Rome,shows the complex image characteristics of women of different social classes,such as love and faith,independence and tenacity,as well as the new changes of traditional stereotype,the awakening of self-awareness of independence and the struggle against patriarchy.
