The theme of the narrative painting can be " constant" or " innovative ",and the process of the innovation contains artists’ responsibility to protect tradition and innovation constantly. Fu Baoshi created a large number of narrative paintings in his life. The innovation of his narrative paintings is not only due to the responsibility of an art historian,but also due to the sensitivity of a painter. His love and deep understanding of Chinese traditional culture and the accumulation of art history became the primary bases for his innovation.
