Deng Xiaoping’s Conception of Old-age Security and its Contemporary Enlightenment

养老观既是一个重要的理论问题,也是一个重大的实践问题。邓小平养老观是马克思主义基本原理同中国实际和时代特征相结合,具有中国特色的马克思主义养老观。邓小平养老观的基本内容包括:实事求是--中国养老不走福利国家老路;锐意改革--解决中国养老问题的必由之路;解放思想--养老应由被动变为主动;主动开放--积极吸纳世界养老保障事业发展成果。邓小平养老观不仅指导了中国当代养老保障制度的建立,而且对于今后我国继续推动养老保障制度改革和发展具有重要的启示意义。

The conception of old-age security is not only an important theoretical problem but also a major practical problem. Deng Xiaoping’s concept of old-age security was in combination of Marxist basic concept with the Chinese reality and the characteristics of the times, showing strong Chinese characteristics. The basic contents for Deng Xiaoping’s conception of old-age security included: Seeking truth from facts: China doesn’t follow the old path of the welfare state;Reforming with keen determination: reform is the only way to solve the problems of Chinese old-age pension;Emancipating our minds: the old-age care should be changed from passive to active;Being active in opening up: we will actively absorb the achievements of the development of the old-age security in the world. Deng Xiaoping’s conception of old-age security not only guided the establishment of the modern old-age security system in China but also was of great enlightenment for the development of the old-age security system in today’s China.
