Skills contest has a fast growing trend in vocational schools and such contest event for hotel management has plentiful sub-events. There are mainly four major types of such contest events that are drawing public concerns, i.e. National Vocational College Skills Contest, National Tourism College Service Skills Contest, provincial qualification trials for the World Skills Competition and skills contests in vocational colleges at provincial level. To study the general situation of hotel service skills contests held in vocational colleges and to summarize and to analyze and reflect the consequential effects is beneficial to the promotion of healthy development of such contests and emergence of more top-ranking athletes, so as to realize reforming, teaching and learning of reform with the help of the contests and to cultivate more highly qualified & skilled talents for the major of hotel management.
