The theory of emptiness refers to a harmonious and peaceful mental state where he can no longer be disturbed by any distractions of desire, loss or benefit,so that the internal organs can stay stable and the channels of the whole body operate smoothly,as life will be prolonged with a coordinated balance of the viscera. The advanced malignant tumor brings about tremendous pains of both physical and metal sufferings on the patients and their family. The traditional treatment performs far from the expectation as the tolerability on pharmacotherapy is limited.Based on the theory of emptiness from Tao Te Ching,“the state of vacancy should be brought to the utmost degree, and that of stillness guarded with unwearying vigor. All things alike go through their processes of activity, and then we see them return. When things have displayed their luxuriant growth,we see each of them return to its root. This returning to their root is what we call the stated of stillness;and that stillness may be called a reporting that have fulfilled their appointed end.”By the theory, the advanced malignant tumor patients can calm down into a state of emptiness,so that their life could be prolonged and sufferings alleviated with a quality life at the same time.It worths a further study and mirroring from the non-medicine treatment against the advanced malignant tumor.
