胡适、鲁迅《西游记》研究所据版本问题考

A Study on the Editions of Journey to the West Examined by Hu Shi and Lu Xun

胡适创作《西游记考证》及鲁迅创作《中国小说史略》时,都没有见过任何一种明代百回本《西游记》。他们当时研究《西游记》所据版本仅有三种清刊本:《西游正旨》《西游真诠》《西游原旨》。他们对《西游记》评点史的述评完全是根据这三种清刊本而作,其中部分论断或源于对清刊本评点文字的误解,或源于对清刊本中可疑说法的轻信,今天不宜再把他们的这些述评视为可靠的学术研究结论。

When Hu Shi wrote A Study on Journey to the West and Lu Xun authored A Short History of Chinese Novels,neither of them had read any one-hundred-chapter editions of Journey to the West completed in the Ming Dynasty.Their reviews on the commentary history of Journey to the West were all based on its three editions in the Qing Dynasty:Xi You Zheng Zhi(西游正旨),Xi You Zhen Quan(西游真诠),and Xi You Yuan Zhi(西游原旨).Some of their conclusions either originated from the misunderstanding of the comments on the editions of the Qing Dynasty or took for granted the suspicious phrasing in the editions of the Qing Dynasty.Concerning their accounts,it is not appropriate for us to accept their reviews as a reliable conclusion of academic studies.
