As one of the large-scale series of historical materials,Lezhai Essays and Chongling Records is of high value.However,some of the terms concerning the official rank system and laws and regulations of the Qing Dynasty are absent or misinterpreted in existing large and medium-sized dictionaries.By using the method of association and explanation by examples and other exegetical and lexicological methods,this paper attempts to explain the meaning of some words in Lezhai Essays and Chongling Records in order to provide reference for the study of social customs,the system of laws and regulations,and historical figures in modern China.
