Samburu people, who are native to the semi-gobi and semi-desert area of Kenya, know the characteristics of animals and plants well. Equipped with the ecological wisdom and the traditional knowledge to address the drought, they are the protectors of the Samburu National Park. In the traditional culture of the Sundarbans region of India, people respect the nature as a mother, and villagers volunteer to protect wildlife and stop poaching. The islanders of the Federated States of Micronesia have restored their traditional agriculture and consciously protected local natural resources including the mangrove forests around the island.
