Teacher Professional Development in the Perspective of Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory

Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory adopts a multidimensional approach,paying special attention to individual cognitive,emotional,social and situational changes,which provides a new perspective for us to understand teachers’learning and development patterns.Firstly,it examines the concept of social intermediary,which is the missing link between Vygotsky’s learning theory and the existing teacher professional development model.Novice teachers can use a variety of tools,including professional journals,communication tools,online forums,the internet,related software,internship or internship scaffolding internal or external sources,to promote professional development and gradually grow into expert teachers.Finally,the various impacts of the proposed method on the design and implementation of teacher professional development are discussed,linking teacher professional development with the core principles of Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory.
