福建自古有着"文献之邦"的美誉,各地曾多次编撰志书,但至今尚存的明代以前的志书屈指可数。《寰宇通志》中转引了大量的宋元志书,为对亡佚志书进行辑佚提供了条件。通过对《寰宇通志》所引志书的辑佚,不仅可以为宋元方志研究提供更多的蓝本,探索宋元方志各自的特点,而且对于重现各地灿烂的历史文化也有着重要的作用。

Since ancient times, Fujian has been known as the "land of literature". Many annals have been compiled in its various places, but only a few of them before the Ming dynasty have been maintained. A large number of records of the Song and Yuan dynasties are quoted in the book,View of Universe, which provides conditions for the collection of lost records. Through the collection of the books quoted in the book, we can not only provide more blueprints for the study of the chronicles of Song and Yuan dynasties, but also play an important role in reproducing the splendid history and culture of various regions.
