Literature System and the Development of Contemporary Chinese Literature

中国文学的"现代"和"当代"自有其连贯性,也有其阶段性。其阶段性在于社会主义文学在当代中国的兴起,当代文学制度的建构就是中国文学史的重大事件。当代文学与社会主义文学并非是固定不变的,而有历史建构的特质。它既被历史所规定也同时创造着多种可能性,有当代社会制度的参与,也有文学自身的努力。当代文学及其文学制度是当代社会主义文化建设的重要内容和生产机制,它开展文学秩序的重建、文学批判和文学斗争,确立文学价值和方向,创造了新的文学生产方式。

The "modern era" and "contemporary era" of Chinese literature have their own coherence and phases. The phases lie in the rise of socialist literature in contemporary China, and the construction of contemporary literary system is a major event in Chinese literary history. Contemporary literature and socialist literature are not fixed, and are constructed by Chinese history. It is defined by the history and at the same time creates a variety of possibilities, with the participation of contemporary social institutions as well as the efforts of literature itself. Contemporary literature and its literature system are the important contents and productive mechanism of the construction of contemporary socialist culture. It carries out the reconstruction of literary order, literary criticism and literary argumentation, establishes the value and direction of literature,and creates a new way of literature production.
