On the Connotation and Practice Value of the Doctrine of the Mean Thought

"中庸"是儒家核心思想,在中国传统文化中具有重要地位。理解中庸的深刻内涵,分析中庸之道的具体体现,研究中庸重要思想的践行,在现代社会仍有重要价值。中庸之道主张"万物并育而不相害",仍秉承了"中和"的思想;提倡不偏不倚、合理适度的处事原则;倡导治国安邦需为政以德。践行中庸,首先要从自身做起,通过好学来提升自己,并能坚守仁爱,具备慎独品质,追求至诚精神。

"The Golden Mean" is the Confucian core thought and has an important position in the Chinese traditional culture. It is still of great value in modern society to understand the profound connotation of the golden mean, to analyze the concrete embodiment of the doctrine of the mean, and to study the practice of the important thought of the mean. The doctrine of the mean advocates that "all things are nurtured without harming each other", and still adheres to the idea of "neutralization";advocates the principle of impartiality and reasonable and moderate handling of affairs;and advocates to govern the country with virtue and ethics. To practice the mean doctrine, we should start from ourselves, improve ourselves through hard learning, stick to benevolence, be careful and independent, and pursue the spirit of utmost sincerity.
