On the Night Narrative in Mo Yan’s Fatigue of Life and Death

在小说《生死疲劳》中,黑夜是一个特别的叙事环境,文本所讲述的许多重要事件都发生在黑夜笼罩的大地上。小说中的黑夜场景经常上演生命的狂欢运动,赋予了黑夜承载原始生命力的主题。对于莫言来说,黑夜不仅具有为动物视角提供叙事环境与补足叙事的功能,其更重要的意义在于黑夜由于其种种特性而富含的象征及隐喻意义。

In the novel Fatigue of Life and Death,night is a special narrative environment.Many important events in the text happen on the land covered by night.The night scenes in the novel often perform the carnival movement of life,which endows the night with the theme of original vitality.For Mo Yan,the night not only has the function of providing narrative environment and complementing narrative for the animal perspective,but also has the more important significance of the symbolic and metaphorical meaning of the night because of its various characteristics.
