摘要
通过对比植物意象在《诗经》四个译本中的传递情况,探讨《诗经》植物意象的翻译方法,以期为中华典籍中的意象翻译研究与实践提供借鉴。对于单纯的植物意象,译者要确保对意象概念意义的准确转换及审美表现;对于植物隐喻意象,译者不仅需要在译文中再现原作的意象,而且更重要的是传达其中蕴寓的文化内涵,实现跨语言的文化沟通。中国本土的从事典籍翻译的实践者要具备文化自觉,重视翻译的读者接受,可以在译文中采用副文本注释的形式,帮助西方读者准确理解原作意象蕴含的文化信息。
This paper discusses the methods of rendering plant images in Shijing on the basis of the comparison of the four English versions in terms of the translation strategies,thus providing reference to both study and practice of the translation of images in the Chinese classics.As for pure plant images,the translators shall ensure the accurate conversion and aesthetic presentation of their conceptive meaning.As for the metaphorical images,the translators shall not only reproduce in the translated version the images of the original version but also transmit their cultural connotation,thereby realizing cross-cultural communication.The Chinese translators engaged in the translation of Chinese classics shall be culturally conscious,value the readers’reception and employ the paratexts in the translation with notes to help the western readers accurately interpret the cultural information implied in the images of the original.
