The Modernization Transformation of the Libraries in Henan Area in the Late Qing Dynasty

晚清时期,河南地区藏书楼进行了短暂的近代化尝试。这种尝试是在河南地区书院教育改革和新式报刊及阅报机构出现的背景下进行的,主要表现为民间藏书楼走向开放化、书院藏书楼向经世致用方向发展两个方面。从结果来看,这种转变是失败的,并没能挽救晚清河南地区藏书楼衰败的命运,但是在客观上这种转变传承了中国古典文化,为河南地区近代化图书馆产生奠定了丰富的馆藏基础。

During the late Qing Dynasty,ancient libraries in Henan Province was briefly attempted for modernization.This kind of attempt was carried out in the context of the reform of the college education in Henan and the emergence of new newspapers and newspaper reading institutions.The main manifestations were the opening of the private library and the academy library became more practical.From the results,this transformation is a failure.It failed to save the fate of the decline of the ancient libraries in Henan in the late Qing Dynasty,but objectively they passed on the classical Chinese culture and laid a rich foundation for the modernization of Henan.
