辞屏建构的中非往来:《经济学人》中非关系报道话语分析

Discourse Analyses of the News Reports on China-Africa Relationship in The Economist

本文从"话语是建构社会现实的手段"这一观点出发,基于美国修辞学家肯尼斯·伯克的"辞屏"概念及其相关理论,分析英国《经济学人》杂志有关中非关系的报道话语,试图通过实证分析把握其就中非关系所构建的媒体现实和世界图景。研究发现,《经济学人》关于中非关系的报道通过话语修辞形成了一个内在互相勾连的辞屏,并在话语传播实践中形成了一定的辞屏效应,建构了反映报道者意识形态的关于中非往来的主观现实,并试图干扰受众对中非关系的正确判断,最终旨在影响态度和行为。文章最后据此提出了应对当今中国国际形象构建所面临的问题和挑战的策略建议。

Starting from the idea of"discourse constructs social reality"and based upon the American rhetoric theorist Kenneth Burke’s concept of"terministic screen"and the related theories,this paper attempts to analyze the news reports on China-Africa relationship in The Economist with the purpose of discovering its constructed media reality and world vision of China-Africa relationship.Empirical data from The Economist were collected for the purpose of the study.The results found that the news reports on China-Africa relationship in The Economist formed a closely related terministic screen.It achieved certain effect in discursive communication by constructing a quite subjective reality which framed the audience’s cognition and affected its attitude,judgment and action in response to China-Africa relationship.The paper finally gave some suggestions for facing the challenges and problems in building the image of contemporary China.
