中文典籍英译的明晰化研究——以大中华文库《周易》英译为个案

On the Explicitation in Translation of Chinese Classics: A Case Study on the Translation of Zhouyi from the Library of Chinese Classics

《周易》内容博大精深,哲理深奥玄思,是一部艰涩、难读的古代典籍。大中华文库《周易》英译本通过补充原文缺失成分、显明爻位关系、具体化人名与地名的手段实践了明晰化策略,为读者呈现了一个可读性与可理解性的译本,这是大中华文库《周易》英译本的突出特点。研究在对译本中的明晰化策略进行归纳与考察后,得出结论:一,《周易》英译中的明晰化从汉英双语转换角度为明晰化研究提供了丰富的、新的语料,深化了明晰化研究;二,明晰化策略是产生清晰明了的可读性译本的必要手段。研究首次指出:明晰化可作为中文典籍英译实践的一种指导性策略,以此助推中文典籍走向英语世界。

Zhouyi is a book full of philosophy.The translation of Zhouyi from the Library of Chinese Classics provides readers with a more readable and comprehensive translation by employing three kinds of explicitation strategies,namely supplementation of the missing information,explicitation of the yao relationships and concretization of the names of people and places,which is characteristic of the Zhouyi translation in question.After a thorough analysis of the translation devices,a conclusion can be made that,the explicitation in Zhouyi provides new material for further research on explicitation;and explicitation strategy helps produce a comprehensible and readable translation.The research puts forward that explicitation strategy can be conducive to Chinese classics“going globally”.
