Infiltration and Connection: the Cultural Implications of Taiwan’s Early Marine Literature

我国台湾地区因其四面环海,自始便受到海洋的多方影响,因此很早便展现出特色鲜明的海洋文化意涵,并在台湾早期文学(包括部落口传文学、神话传说、民间故事等)中有所体现。首先,海洋以其温柔又残酷的两面性,塑造出台湾人矛盾的两面性格,并为海洋民间信仰的兴盛提供了条件。其次,海洋使崇拜英雄和尊重女性成为台湾社会层面的重要共识,并建立起包括神明崇拜、载具崇拜在内的信仰体系。再次,海洋对传统文化在台湾的滥觞起到了早期催化作用,社会和谐、家庭和睦、朋友和气等基本守则以海洋故事的方式广为人知。

Taiwan has been influenced by the ocean since it is surrounded by the sea. Therefore, it has shown its distinctive marine cultural meaning in early Taiwan Literature(including tribal oral literature, myths and legends, folk stories, etc.).First of all, the ocean, with its gentle and cruel sides, has shaped the two sides of pepole in Taiwan’s contradictory character and provided conditions for the prosperity of marine folk beliefs. Secondly, the sea makes the worship of heroes and respect for women be an important consensus at the social level in Taiwan, and establishes a belief system including the worship of gods and vehicles. Thirdly, the ocean has played an early catalytic role in the origin of Chinese culture in Taiwan. The basic rules of social harmony, family harmony, friends and gas are well known in the way of ocean stories.
