The Dissemination and Reception of British Left-wing Literary Theory in Modern China

在俄国十月革命影响下,以威廉·莫理斯、王尔德和柯尔为代表的英国社会主义文艺观念传入中国,成为新文学运动者们理解艺术与政治的重要理论资源。随着中国左翼文学的蓬勃发展,英国左翼作家拉尔夫·福克斯、克里斯托弗·考德威尔与约翰·斯特雷奇等人的马克思主义文艺理论在现代中国的传播最广,成为影响中国左翼文论生成的重要理论资源。抗战以后,英国著名诗人"奥登"来华声援抗战,深受马克思主义影响的著名诗人克里斯托弗·考德威尔、C.D.刘易斯与斯蒂芬·斯彭德的诗论传入中国,成为中国新诗现代化的理论催化剂。

Under the influence of the October Revolution,William Morris,Oscar Wilde and G.D.H.Cole’s British socialist concept of literature and art was introduced into China,which became an important theoretical resource for the new literature campaigners to understand art and politics.With the development of Chinese left-wing literature,Ralph Fox,Christopher Caudwell and John Strachey’s Marxism literary theory was accepted widely by Chinese left-wing literature and become an important theoretical resource influencing the formation of Chinese left-wing literary theory.After the Anti-Japanese War broke out,the famous British poet Wystan Hugh Auden came to China to support the war.Christopher Caudwell,C.D.Lewis and Stephen Spender’s Marxism poetics was introduced into China,which became a theoretical catalysts for the modernization of Chinese new verse.
