A Probe into the Disciplinary Orientation of Lexical Motivation Study

人们对词语产生及变化的动因的追溯,发端自古典时期的语言探索,近年来逐渐形成一些颇具特色的发展方向。其中,词语理据研究在功能主义范式的助力下,进行了并且正在进行着理论酝酿、研究对象、语料准备、个性术语、操作方法等方面的积累,旨在建构一门以词源学为母体、以像似论为参照、以词汇学为归属的新兴学科——“词语理据学”。从词语理据学的性质和定位来看,它源于认知功能语言学,更与解释语言学相契合。

The tracing of lexical motivations underlying the generation and evolution of words and expressions originated with linguistic inquiry at the classical period.Recently a group of research fields,characterized by their own features,have emerged.Among them,triggered by the functional paradigm,especially with the advancement of theoretical foundation,object manifestation,data collection,terminological preparation and methodological operation,the lexical motivation study is being constructed into a new discipline,which is originated from etymology,complemented by iconicity and belongs to lexicology.In terms of its nature and orientation,the lexical motivation study derives from cognitive-functional linguistics and further accords with interpretive linguistics.
