A Brief Discussion on Wang Wei’s Six-word Poetry

六言诗是中国诗歌史上的小众文体,创作甚难,佳作尤少。盛唐诗人王维《田园乐》七首堪称六言绝句的典范之作,在题材上选择描写田园生活,抒发冲淡闲适的人生追求,开拓了六言诗的抒情空间,为六言诗确立了最合适的题材类型。在艺术上意象并置,清绝可画,对偶精工,用典巧妙,提升了六言诗的意境和表现力,使六言诗雅化,更适合文人闲适情致的表达,为后代六言诗提供了审美范式。

Six-word poem is a minority style in the history of Chinese poetry.It is very difficult to create excellent works.Wang Wei,a poet in the prosperous Tang Dynasty,wrote seven works of Tianyuanle,which can be regarded as a model of six-word quatrains.In terms of themes,he chose to describe rural life and express the pursuit of leisure,thus opening up the lyric space of six-word poems and establishing the most suitable theme type for six-word poems.In terms of art,juxtaposition of images,absolute paintability in Qing Dynasty,antithesis of precision and ingenious allusion enhance the artistic conception and expressiveness of six-word poems,make them elegant,more suitable for the expression of leisure feelings of literati,and provide an aesthetic paradigm for future six-word poems.
