Photography is viewed as the art of light and shadow. For photographers, it is the most important work to grasp the relationship between light and shadow. The atmosphere of light and shadow is the first thing we should consider in the process of creation because it will lay the keynote of a work as a whole. This paper explores the relationship between tonality language of light and shade and the creation of light and shadow atmosphere, and discusses the composition, characteristics of each kind of tonality language and the created light and shadow atmosphere, and gives a detailed explanation via relevant examples of works.
