This paper Clarifies the main course of Li Shanlan’s translation and publication of Western astronomical works,and analyzes the background and academic background of his translation of astronomical works.Through historical data analysis,it is concluded that Li Shanlan is the first person to introduce modern Western astronomy into China,and is the founder of modern Western astronomy communication and research. Through the translation of Western astronomical works,it has brought more theoretical and systematic astronomical knowledge to Chinese traditional astronomy. It has trained a large number of talents for backward astronomy education and research,paving the way for the westernization of Chinese traditional astronomy. The translation and publication of Tantian made an important foundation for the science education in the late Qing Dynasty and influenced the subsequent science education.
