诗学一词有传统义与现代义。传统义的诗学一词始于晚唐,历唐宋元明清各代,至近代使用已广。传统诗学范畴的生成与文人诗创作传统的发生、发展密切相关,也与传统的道术思想有关。传统诗学涵括了创作与理论批评两方面,而以创作一面为根本。它可以概括为诗人从事诗歌创作活动所凭借的各种内外素养即知识、思想、技能的体系。从诗学的传统内涵来看,诗歌史与诗学史是可以重叠的。传统诗学的修习,要从本体与工夫两方面同时进行。一定程度的诗歌写作实践,对于培养传统诗学的研究能力是有必要的。

The term poetics has traditional meaning and modern meaning. The traditional meaning of poetry began in the late Tang Dynasty, and it was widely used in the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The generation of traditional poetics is closely related to the occurrence and development of the literati poetry creation tradition, and also related to the traditional Taoist thought. Traditional poetics covers both creation and theoretical criticism, and the creation side is fundamental. It can cover all kinds of internal and external qualities that the poet is engaged in poetry creation activities, that is, the system of knowledge, thoughts and skills. From the traditional connotation of poetics, the history of poetry and the history of poetics can overlap. The practice of traditional poetics should be carried out simultaneously from both the ontology and the work. A certain degree of poetry writing practice is necessary to cultivate the research ability of traditional poetics.
