宁夏南部山区回族家族堂号特点探析

An Analysis of the Characteristics of Hui Family Names in the Mountain Area of Southern Ningxia

今宁夏南部山区回族中的部分家族堂号,与其他民族及居于东南地区的回族相比,存在历史上溯期短、极少悬挂于门厅等特点。在家族堂号发展式微的今天,宁夏南部山区回族仍强调家族堂号,这与家族堂号在回族间承担着承载历史、标记家族、指导婚姻等重要文化与社会功能有关。

In the field investigation,the author has collected family names of the Hui people in the mountain area of southern Ningxia. Compared with other ethnic groups and the Hui people living in the inland areas of China,family names of Hui people in the mountain area of southern Ningxia are uniquely characterized by a short history and a custom that family names have seldom been hung in the lobby. Today,when development of the family names is declining,Hui nationality in the mountain area of southern Ningxia still attach importance to family names. And this is closely related to the important cultural and social functions of family names such as bearing the history,marking the family,and guiding the marriage,etc,which family names bear among the Hui nationality in today’s mountain area of southern Ningxia.
