潮州歌册是我国一种比较特殊的地方曲艺和民间文学形态,其最大特色是具有女性文化的特质。《潮州柳知府全歌》的故事是在借鉴和改编明代话本小说的基础上,对潮州本地一则传闻进行的具体化。在人物塑造和情节安排等上优于原小说。其叙事特色主要有二:一是叙述声音的高度凸现,二是采取复调式的叙述方式。作品具有社会学、民俗学上的认识意义和文学上的借鉴意义。

Chaozhou songbooks are a special form of local folk art and folk literature in China,with feminine culture as its greatest feature.The story of the Complete Song of Magistrate Liu of Chaozhou is based on the reference and adaptation of a vernacular novel of the Ming Dynasty,which embodies a local rumor in Chaozhou. It is better than the original novel in terms of characterization and plot arrangement. There are two main narrative features:one is the high prominence of narrative voice;the other is the polyphonic narrative.This songbook has the cognitive significance of sociology and folklore and the reference significance of literature.
