罗寄一在1940年代属于西南联大诗人群,受现代主义的影响较大,渴望坚守个体的理想,对群体及其背后的灾难、丑恶有清醒的认识,并极力抵抗,但有时又迫于现实的压力妥协。他肯定了集体与行动的力量,对未来充满希望,并流露出政治批判的色彩。他的爱情诗以爱情做底,抒发了对生命意义、灵与肉等诸多困扰人类的问题的思考,展现了现代主义诗歌抒情的智性特点。诗中常用悖论与隐喻等修辞手法,增添了诗句的张力。

In the 1940s,Luo Jiyi was one of the members of the gang of poets in Southwest Associated University.Influenced by modernism greatly,he was eager to adhere to his own individual ideal and had a clear understanding on the gang and the disasters and ugliness behind,which resulted in his strong resistance,but sometimes he compromised under the pressure of reality.He affirmed the power of the collective and the action,kept hopeful for the future,and exuded the hint of political criticism.As the base of love,his love poems expressed his thoughts on the meaning of life,soul and body,and many other problems which perplexed human beings,and showed the intellectual characteristics of the lyric of modernism.He often used rhetorical devices such as paradoxes and metaphors in the poem to increase the tension power of the poem.
