The female Chinese-American writer Fae Myenne Ng′s Bone has a high position in the development of Chinese American literature,for it reflects the survival dilemma of the entire Chinese ethnic group from one family living in the Salmon Alley.The development of characters and plots in the novel is the flesh and skeleton that the novel can form and convey meaning.So,its importance is self-evident.However,apart from these grand factors,the locations and space in the novel,especially the public sphere,is of great metaphorical meaning,in that they give a seemingly panoramic view of the entire Chinese community′s common life crisis.The profound meaning is implied in the three public places,i.e.the Salmon Alley,square and the restaurants.In other words,the description of the three public placesreveals the living dilemma of Chinese-Americans in America.
