Goblin Market is a long narrative fantasy written by the first poetess Christina Georgina Rossetti. This reading attempts to show how Goblin Market, charmingly cast as a fairy tale, asserts the vital socioeconomic function of women despite their marginalization by the Victorian market economy.Rossetti’s fantasy challenges the prevailing ideology of production and consumption by relocating human value in reproduction and motherhood.
