Concept, System and Action: Multiple Sources of "Double Standards" in the West

长期以来,西方国家以“双重标准”来评判自身和其他国家中的经济、政治和社会体制。从政治上看,西方“双重标准”的观念根源在于“西方中心主义”的价值观,制度根源来自于自由民主制在国际社会中占据的优势地位,而借助民主输出战略及行动,西方“双重标准”得以持续至今。非西方国家只有坚持自己的发展道路和模式,实现国家治理的现代化,才能从根本上摆脱西方“双重标准”的话语体系。

For a long time, the Western countries have judged their own and other countries’ economic, political and social systems by "double standards". From the political point of view, "double standards" in the West is due to the values of "Western centralism" conceptually and to the dominant position of liberal democracy in the international community institutionally. Due to the democratic output strategy and action, "double standards" can still exist today in the West. Only by sticking to their own development path and model and realizing the modernization of national governance can the non-Western countries fundamentally break away from the Western discourse system of "double standards".
