Chinese gardens, especially Jiangnan gardens, have always been considered to represent the essence of Chinese culture. In addition to considerations from the perspective of aesthetics and art,Jiangnan gardens actually also carry a wider range of social roles, which are not only the place of literati socializing, but also expensive real estate. This article attempts to cross the academic barriers from the perspective of historical anthropology, and tries to reveal and trace the potential connections between the rise of Chinese gardens in the Jiangnan area, silver circulation worldwide, market prosperity in East Asia and the establishment of the Chinese silver standard currency system. The discussion of architectural cultural boundaries helps to reexamine the current architectural and historical heritage, and to better protect the past and guide future re-creation.
