At present, environmental communication is moving towards an accident mode. Some media are paying attention to accidents caused by sudden changes in the environment, and integrate environmental issues into a single accident-based framework. It is turning the environmental issues into a dynamic media communication mode, which alienates early warning and diversified exploration of environmental protection issues. This article compares newspaper reports on the chemical pollution in the lower reaches of the Huaihe River around 2005 with those on the 2019 explosion accident at the same place, and explores the external and internal causes of the media communication mode.It discovers that accidents such as an explosion would draw far more media attention than slow hazard like pollution, with dynamic reflection becoming the dominant model. The article reveals that the simplified handling of environmental issues by the media would result in undesirable consequences like the lack of early warning.
