Based on the article"Royal Pains"in"The New York-er"and guided by Nida's functional equivalence theory,this pa-per analyzes the characteristics of the text,explores the transla-tion strategies and skills in English-Chinese translation practice,and finally achieves effective equivalence between the translation and the source text in terms of vocabulary,syntax and style.
