Traditionally,wire ropes of quayside container cranes are lubricated by regular manual smearing.In the lubrication process,hands directly contact the steel wire rope.Each operator should consider not only the lubrication quality of the steel wire rope,but also the coordination of equipment and mechanism actions and the hidden interference between the surrounding steel structure and the standing operator.There may be potential safety hazards such as hand stabbing,personal collision,etc.in hand smearing;meanwhile,there are some disadvantages such as uneven oiling,poor lubrication effect and dripping on the maintenance site.According to the daily maintenance,usage,lubrication methods and lubrication effect of the hoisting wire rope of a quayside container crane of a domestic seaport company,and referring to the management experience of major domestic docks,this paper designs an automatic lubrication system for hoisting wire rope suitable for quayside cranes of the company,and has achieved remarkable results.
