The Coupling Zhuang-Han Homographs(CZHH)are special self-created words com bined by Han characters and Zhuang characters,which is created by the need of signifying both the sound and meaning of the words.The character differences between CZHH are relevant to the creator’Han proficiency.The key to recognize CZHH lies in distinguishing CZHH from Straightborrowed Han characters through analyzing their differences on configurations basis,such as the characteristics of signifying sound and signifying meaning,as well as frequency of the characters.There are 4 types of CZHH:the phonetic characters,the ideographic characters,the multiple-compo nent characters with the configurational symbol"口",and the reductive characters.Acknowledging the existence of CZHH can avoid some pitfalls of character patterns,facilitating the analysis of char acters in folk literature.
