The Knowledge Exchange Theory has a unique position in the fundamental theory study of Chinese Library Science in the late 20 th century.One of its main contributors,Dr.Huang Chunyuan,is a meteor in the field of Chinese Library Science,bright but short.The paper reviews Mr.Huang’s academic career and the core theoretical propositions of the Knowledge Exchange Theory,pointing out that it is an important theoretical achievement in striving for the legitimacy of Library Science under the Essentialism research paradigm,which is the landmark of Library Science knowledge production from closure to openness.
