Techno Innovation, Chinese Civilization and Talent Training --An Interview with Lin Zhongqin

院士跨界高端访谈栏目旨在探索面向未来的科技人文问题。本期访谈上海交通大学校长林忠钦院士,围绕科技创新、中华文明与大学人才培养等问题而展开。林忠钦认为,包括科技文明在内的中华文明为人类社会的进步和发展做出了巨大贡献,中国在5G和量子工程等领域的科技创新将使中国在未来科技发展中发挥引领作用。中国一流大学建设应该注重学科综合性布局,兼顾人文社科与理工科的协同发展,注重科技人文交叉研究。人工智能专业人才培养应该加强数学等基础学科教育。

Talking with academicians is a special column that aims to explore the future oriented issues of science, technology and humanities. This issue is an interview with Professor Lin Zhongqin, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, focusing on techno innovation, Chinese civilization and talent training. As pointed out by Lin Zhongqin, Chinese civilization, including the achievements made by Chinese in science and technology, has greatly contributed to the progress and development of human society. With the continuous technological innovation in such fields as 5 G and Quantum Engineering, China will play an increasingly important part in future scientific and technological development. Great attention shall be paid, in the process of constructing China’s first-class universities, to the comprehensive layout of disciplines, the synergistic development of science and humanities, as well as interdisciplinary research. The talent training in the field of artificial intelligence shall strengthen the education in mathematics and other basic disciplines.
